(Europa League second leg 26-02-2015) The Italians send five teams to the round of 16

Hi everyone welcome

The Italians send no less then five teams to the round of 16, great news for the league and telling on the progress made by some teams

Torino became the first Italian club to win at San Mamés in Bilbao Spain defeating Athletico Bilbao 3-2. With their first ever win in Spain Il Toro booked their place in the round of 16 thanks to 5-4 aggregate victory. Italians Fabio Quagliarella, Matteo Darmian and Argentinian Maxi Lopez got the goals for the visitors while Spanish Andoni Iraola and Óscar de Marcos replied for Bilbao. A dramatic and record win for Il Toro that confirms their excellent form.

Napoli booked their third consecutive trip to round of 16 with 1-0 win over Trabzonspor of Turkey thanks to a goal from Dutchman Jonathan De Guzmán. The Partenopei secured their spot with a 5-0 aggregate win. Although coach Rafa Benitez made five changes in the lineup for Napoli the result was never in doubt.

Roma got their first win on the road in all European competitions with a knockout of Feyenoord Rotterdam. Serbian Adem Ljajić and Ivorian Gervinho scored for the Romans while Dutch player Elvis Manu replied for the hosts. The match was halted due to racist actions of some of the fans towards Gervinho and the general aggressive manner of the Rotterdam fans. In spite of the Romans conquered

fiorevstt.fiorevstt2Fiorentina Knocked out Tottenham with a solid 2-0 win and a 3-1 final aggregate. German Mario Gomez and newcomer Egyptian Mohamed Salah got the goals for the hosts. The Viola continue to impress in Europe coach Vincenzo Montella is brilliant in my view, no doubt they will be one of the finalists.

intervsceltic2Inter Milan defeated Celtic 1-0 and in so doing progressed to the final 16 thanks to a 4-3 aggregate score. Colombian Freddy Guarin who continues his good form scored for the visitors. Inter seem to have found a good moment at the right time bodes well for the millions of fans around the world.

Hello everyone welcome to the Serie A review where the beautiful game is played with style

Juventus got a step close to their 4th consecutive title by defeating Atalanta 2-1. Ageless Andrea Pirlo and Spanish Fernando Llorente scored for La Grande Signora while Italian Giulio Migliacci replied for the Bergamasci. A good performance by Juve and they could have had more goals notwithstanding a few good save from the Atalanta keeper. Pirlo had a fantastic game once again with over 80 passes completed. With Roma failing to keep pace only a small miracle can keep Juve from winning another Scudetto. The Bergamasci for their part must find a way to accumulate points or they will be in danger of going down.

Roma drew again this time 1-1 against struggling Hellas Verona. The ever young Francesco Totti scored for the Romans while Serbian Jankovic Bosko scored for the Veronese. Roma completely dominated the game and could have had at least four goals, Bosnian superstar Miralem Pjanic had a fantastic game as did Malian Keita Seydou. Tough times for Roma who have a total of 9 draws out of 24 games this season, they will never catch Juve at this rate. Hellas is also in a rough time after a couple of good seasons this one seems more difficult they must improve to avoid relegation

Napoli inched closer to the Romans and the automatic Champion League spot with a 2-0 win over much improved Sassuolo. Slovak sensation Marek Hamsik and super sub Colombian Duvan Zapata who always seems to score when he is in the lineup got the Partenopei on the scoreboard. Important win for the Partenopei which sees them just two points behind Roma and the second spot. A very important spot as it guarantees a Champion League spot. Sassuolo are enjoying a good season and are 8 points clear of relegation at the moment. They must not let this defat demoralize them.

Fiorentina had to settle with a 1-1 draw against a strong Torino team. Egyptian Mohamed Salah scored for the Tuscans while Italian Giuseppe Vives replied for Il Toro. A very tough match indeed both teams we’re going for the win and it gave a great spectacle. The Viola are enjoying a great moment and are close to a Champion League spot, they must not let up. Coach Vincenzo Montella is doing a good job in Tuscany.Torino for their part are enjoying a good season in spite of losing both their outstanding strikers from last season Alessandro Cerci and Ciro Immobile.

Inter Milan are climbing towards the top of the standings with a 2-1 win over Cagliari. Argentinian Mauro Icardi and Croatian Phenom Mateo Kovacic scored for Inter while Inter keeper Argentinian Carrizo Juan Pablo had an own goal which made the score closer than the match indicated. A good moment for Inter and their fans with a little luck they just might reach Europe. The Sardinians for their part are struggling at the moment, they must find a way to get points if they don’t want to be relegated

Serie A Review 2014-15 week 23: Juventus hits a snag, Roma and Napoli fail to capitalize

102114_2052_SerieARevie2.jpg                       Hello everyone welcome to the Serie A Review

Juventus hit a snag drawing Cesena 2-2, Italian international Claudio Marchisio and Spanish Alvaro Morata got the goals for La Grande Signora while ex Juventino Italian Franco Brienza and Bosnian hopeful Milan Djuric replied for Cesena. Juve played a good game although they met stiff competition on this day, this is only the 7th time this season that they have not gained the full 3 points. With Roma also drawing the top two spots remain unchanged. Cesena for their part are enjoying a good moment and can now hope for salvation, they have not lost in three consecutive games.

Roma continue their struggles at home by drawing their fourth consecutive game this time with lowly Parma 0-0. Not much to say about this game although the Romans dominated possession the Parmiggiani had more opportunities to score. Roma who are having all kinds of problems scoring don’t seem a threat for Juve at this moment. Their coach Rudy Garcia who must be feeling the pinch of playing the country’s capital must find the right combinations up front or they can kiss the Scudetto goodbye. Parma for their part showed some good stuff in this game however I do think they are destined to go down notwithstanding a little miracle

After some great results Napoli hit a wall in Sicily by going down 3-1 against Palermo.  Moroccan Lazaar Achraf, Italian Luca Rigoni and Argentinian Franco Vazques scored for the Sicilians while Italian Manolo Gabbiadini who continues his torrid pace replied for the Partenopei. A game to forget for Napoli they held possession very well they did not create much although the keeper for Palermo was called to make at least two great saves. Palermo are surprising everyone they are practically unbeatable at home and are moving dangerously close to Europe.

Fiorentina defeated Sassuolo 3-1 to move closer to the top three. Egyptian international Mohamed Salah and Senegalese international Khouma El Hadji Babacar with 2 got the goals for the Viola while Domenico Berardi replied for Sassuolo. Fiorentina who are enjoying a good moment put on a great team effort on this day and they are inching closer to the third spot, bodes well for their upcoming matches in the Europa League. Sassuolo who are having a good season for their standard did not play a bad game however they played a stronger team and it showed. Although they must continue to believe in themselves if they want to progress.

Inter Milan snapped a bad sequence with a convincing 4-1 trumping of Atalanta. Newly acquired Swiss Phenom Shaqiri Xherdan, Colombian Freddy Guarin with 2 and Argentinian Rodriguo Palacio got the goals for Neroblue while Argentinian Maximiliano Moralez replied for the Bergamasci. An important win for Inter and Roberto Mancini that will hopefully give them a boost for the remainder of the campaign. After a good season last year Atalanta are struggling to find their form they must get some points or they will be in danger of going down.

Serie A Review 2014-15 week 22: Juventus tames AC Milan Roma finally get a win

images (7)

Hello everyone welcome to the Serie A Review where the beautiful game is played with style

Juventus continue their march towards the Scudetto with a 3-1 win over their eternal rivals AC Milan. Unstoppable Carlos Tevez, Spanish Alvaro Morata and Italian Leonardo Bonucci scored for the Bianconeri while Luca Antonelli replied for the Rossoneri. Although possession was somewhat split Juve we’re rarely in danger, their dominance at midfield was evident once again. Right now they look like an unstoppable train. AC on the other hand lost an opportunity to get closer to a European spot. The way they are playing I doubt it, after sacking Clarence Seedorf the hope was to improve on last year however seems the opposite has happened, they are stuck in the middle of the standings with no hope in sight

Roma finally got a win after a string of draws, a victory of 2-1 over Cagliari. Serbian Adem Ljajic and Argentinian Leandro Paredes got the goals for Giallorossi while Belgian newcomer Paul-Jose M’Poku replied for the Sardinians. A well-played road game for the Romans who controlled possession and where in total command of the game. Hopefully this game will turn the fortunes around for Roma who must remain focused if they want any chance of catching Juventus. Cagliari for their part we’re coming off a good stretch and must not let this defeat bring them down if they want to remain in Serie A.

Napoli continue their assault on 2nd spot with a decisive 3-1 win over Udinese. Newcomer Manolo Gabbiadini, Belgian sensation Dries Mertens and an own goal by Frenchman Cyril Theroux who in fact also got the goal for his team. Napoli are enjoying a good moment right now and with a little help could find themselves in 2nd spot before the season’s end. Udinese for their part are continuing their sea-saw season, they must improve if they want to progress in the standings, in my view.

Fiorentina climbed to 4th spot with a tough win of 3-2 over Atalanta. Argentinian Jose Maria Basanta and Italians Alesandro Diamanti and Manuel Pasqual scored for the Tuscans. Diamanti who is recently back from China had an instant impact on the team bodes well for the Viola. Ghanaian Boakye Richmond Yiadom and Italian Davide Zappacosta replied for the Bergamasci. An important win for Fiorentina which sees them in 4th place right behind Napoli. In my view with Juve, Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina being 1,2,3,4 in the standings is probably a prelude to the final standings.

Inter Milan snapped their losing streak with a 3-0 trumping of Palermo. Argentinian Mauro Icardi with 2 and Colombian Freddy Guarin got the goals for the Neroblue. Guarin had a fantastic game as did Icardi. After a string of bad results a much needed win for the Neroblue. They have not been able to string together any kind of positive results at best a sea-saw season for the Interisti. Roberto Mancini is a great coach however he will need more time to turn the team around. Palermo for their part are playing well and in spite of the loss are surpassing every expectation this season.

Torino continue their impressive drive with 3-1 drubbing of Hellas Verona

Genoa continue their impressive form with 1-0 win over Lazio in Rome

Sampadoria and Sassuolo who are both playing beyond expectation this season settled for a 1-1

Lastly Chievo Verona defeated Seir B bound Parma 1-0
