Hello everyone welcome once again to the Serie A review, thank you for tuning in
Juventus took a giant step towards clinching the title with a 1-0 victory over Bologna, the only goal of the game was scored in the 64th minute, by (the much sought after and likely to move next year) French international Paul Pogba, on a splendid demonstration composure and power. Juves’ dominance and quality was evident trough out the game however Bologna who are staring relegation in the face gave a good account of themselves and we’re in the game till the final whistle. I would think that after this game it’s safe to say that Juve can start chilling the champagne
Roma kept pace with the champions by defeating Fiorentina 1-0 in Tuscany, on a goal from Belgian international Radia Nainggolan in the 26th minute on a beautiful play signed Pjanic. In another beautiful display of a pragmatic approach to the game Roma took control of the ball and rarely gave it up, the one negative for them in the game was the clear chances that we’re missed, don’t know if it’s just me but sometimes it’s difficult to watch professionals miss easy goals. In spite of probably missing out on the Scudetto with this win the Romani set a new team record for points during 1 season, all and all they can be proud of the way they play the game. The Viola in contrast are inconsistent to say the least, with Inter Milan’s recent form nipping at their heels, they might lose their standing for a Europa spot if they don’t finish strong
Napoli had to settle for a draw of 1-1 against Udinese in Udine. The goals we’re scored by the incomparable Jose Maria Callejon for the Partenopei in the 38th minute and Bruno replied for Udinese in the 54th minute. The game was meaningless for both teams and it showed lots of mistakes from both sides and a draw is a just result. Having been out of contention from the Scudetto race and the European Cups, Napoli can still claim the Italian Cup if they defeat Fiorentina in the final, they must not fall into complacency and must finish strong.
Amidst rumors of dissention and confusion Clarence Seedorf and AC Milan got their 4 straight victory by defeating Livorno 3-0 on goals from Super Mario Balotelli in the 43rd minute, Adel Taarabt in the 51st minute and ex Italian international Giampaolo Pazzini. Balotelli was super with a goal and 2 super assist for the other goals. The Rossoneri still have an outside chance of reaching the Europa League and judging from their recent form it’s an obtainable goal. I hope Seedorf will keep his job he seems to be the man of the moment, although judging from the rumors it seems like some people want to see Pippo Inzaghi named coach for next year. With Kaka reportedly playing in the MLS next season for Orlando, the speculation for a new direction for the team is rampant, it will be interesting to see how the players handle the distraction, so far so good.
In other scores
Inter Milan defeated Parma 2-0 in a must win for the Neroblue if they want to catch Fiorentina, Hellas Verona edged out Atalanta 2-1, Lazio and Torino played to a 3-3 draw, Cagliari defeated Genoa 2-1, Sassulo took a giant step towards salvation by edging Chievo Verona 1-0 and Catania outlasted Sampadoria 2-1
In the race for the bottom Catania (despite their win), Livorno and Bologna are down looking up
